NAMED SCHOLARSHIPS

Through the generosity and dedication of members of the Mapleton community, the following scholarship programs have been developed to support Mapleton's students in their post-secondary pursuits.

LEGACY SCHOLARSHIPS

The Legacy Scholarship Program is a competitive scholarship program that provides graduating seniors of Mapleton Public Schools with financial support to further their educational and personal goals beyond high school. The Legacy Scholarship Program celebrates the uniqueness and potential of Mapleton's students by helping each and every promising recipient to achieve his or her dreams and contribute enthusiastically to his or her community and world. LEGACY TRANSITION SCHOLARSHIP

The Legacy Transition Scholarship is a competitive scholarship awarded to a Mapleton student with special or significant needs who intends to continue his or her education beyond the transition or high school program in which he or she is currently enrolled. The Legacy Transition Scholarship will provide much needed financial support for eligible applicants to attend innovative accredited programs beyond the Mapleton system that provide education and training to prepare these individuals to become independent, productive contributors to their communities.

BACK ON TRACK SCHOLARSHIP

The Back on Track Scholarship Program is a competitive scholarship program that provides graduating seniors with financial support to further their educational and personal goals beyond high school. Sponsored by Time to Change Community Corrections Program, the Back on Track Scholarship Program seeks to make a difference in the lives of scholarship recipients who have faced or are facing difficult challenges or circumstances (for example, students or students of families struggling with substance abuse, incarceration, probation, etc.). Priority consideration will be given to those applicants who have demonstrated perseverance and motivation in coping with adversity and shaping a positive vision for their future. Academic performance is NOT a consideration.

REGINA E. MATNEY TEACHING SCHOLARSHIP

The Regina E. Matney Teaching Scholarship Program is a competitive scholarship program honoring the teaching career of Regina E. Matney, a former teacher at Valley View Elementary School. Mrs. Matney's love of teaching and her tireless commitment to elementary education and music education left an indelible mark on her students, colleagues and others whose lives she touched in her years in Mapleton. The Regina E. Matney Teaching Scholarship provides financial support to a graduating Mapleton student planning to enter a career in teaching.

A. FOX PHYSICAL THERAPY, P.C. SCHOLARSHIP

The A. Fox Physical Therapy, P.C. scholarship program is a competitive scholarship program designed to financially assist a graduating Mapleton student to pursue an undergraduate degree in a field of study related to Physical Therapy as a prerequisite to a Doctorate program in Physical Therapy. (This undergraduate degree could be in the field of Exercise Science for example.) Physical Therapy is an entry-level Doctorate program where the student will apply after an undergraduate degree is obtained. The intent of this scholarship is ultimately for the student to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

JOHN G. BYRD SCHOLARHSIP

The John G. Byrd Athletic Scholarship honors the generous support and commitment of the Byrd Family. The scholarship celebrates the dreams of the two deserving recipients and their potential to give back to the community and world. The Byrd Scholarship is reserved for students who participate in athletic programs and who have been greatly impacted athletics.

THE AUGUSTINE & TRINIDAD SANCHEZ TEACHING SCHOLARSHIP

The Augustine & Trinidad Sanchez Teaching Scholarship Program is a competitive scholarship program honoring the lives of Augustine & Trinidad Sanchez and their commitment to hard work and education. The Augustine & Trinidad Sanchez Teaching Scholarship provides financial support to a graduating Mapleton student of Mexican or Mexican-American heritage who is planning to enter a career in teaching. Preference will be given to those students demonstrating financial need.

GLOBAL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY "ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS" SCHOLARSHIP

The Global Leadership Academy Scholarship Program is a competitive scholarship program for any graduating senior from Global Leadership Academy planning to attend an accredited college, university or apprenticeship program in the next academic year. Scholarship monies awarded may go toward tuition, books, or other college/career related expenses.

RG INSULATION "BUILDING AMERICA'S FUTURE" SCHOLARSHIP

The RG Insulation "Building America's Future" Scholarship is a competitive scholarship program for any graduating senior from Mapleton Public Schools planning to attend an accredited college, university or apprenticeship program in the next academic year. Applicants must be interested in the study of Engineering Technology or Construction Management. Scholarship monies awarded may go toward tuition, books, or other college/career related expenses.

THE FRANK FAMILY "ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT" SCHOLARSHIP

The Frank Family "Energy and the Environment" Scholarship is for a student interested in engineering or environmental technologies. The Energy and the Environment Scholarship is a competitive scholarship program for any graduating senior from Mapleton Public Schools planning to attend an accredited college, university or apprenticeship program in the next academic year. Scholarship monies awarded may go toward tuition, books, or other college/career related expenses.

HARRIS FAMILY BEAUTIFUL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP

The Harris Family Scholarship is reserved for students pursuing a major in Music education, music performance or musical theatre.

YORK INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The York International Scholarship Program is a competitive scholarship program for any graduating senior from York International planning to attend an accredited college, university or apprenticeship program in the next academic year. Scholarship monies awarded may go toward tuition, books, or other college/career related expenses.
